Create's Role:

Create Water carried out 2D hydrodynamic flood depth and hazard modelling for a range of extreme surge tide scenarios to quantify the exposure of the development to flood risk in very extreme conditions, such as the failure of seafront defences, and in order to confirm the safety of the proposals. Using TUFLOW software, video animations were produced showing the progress of flood water across a large area of Southern Felixstowe following a failure of defences, in order to analyse the hazard and determine safe flood evacuation routes and refuge locations even in the most extreme residual risk occurrence. In accordance with national planning guidance the analysis was used to influence the development proposals to ensure the buildings and infrastructure will be safe and resilient for all residents and usCreate Consulting - South Beach, Felixstoweers of the Maritime Park.
